Wessex Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (Wessex RFCA) supports, promotes, and champions the Volunteer Reserve Forces of the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force, along with the Cadet Forces across the Wessex region. We are one of thirteen RFCAs operating across the UK.

We play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and development of local Reserves and Cadets, advocating for the Armed Forces community, and strengthening relationships with employers, civic leaders, and the wider public.

Reserves

There are approximately 35,000 reservists in the UK. They come from all backgrounds, regions and jobs. These ordinary men and women are able to gain new skills and qualifications, as well as enjoy a great social life and plenty of opportunities for overseas travel and adventurous training.

Cadets

The UK Cadet movement are made up of voluntary youth organisations, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, which aim to provide challenging, adventurous, and educational activities to young people aged primarily between 12 and 18.

They comprise of the community-based Sea Cadet Corps, the Volunteer Cadet Corps, the Army Cadet Force, and the Air Training Corps, along with the school-based Combined Cadet Force.

Engagement

Wessex Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) plays a vital role in connecting the Armed Forces with the communities they serve.

Our Engagement and Communications activity is at the heart of this mission—raising awareness, building strong relationships, and celebrating the achievements of our Reserves and Cadets across the South West.
